404 Reading Club

This audience-participatory interprofessional work will feature the intersection of expression censorship and resistance, secrecy and decryption, esotericism and underground culture, exploring the delicate relationship between authority and liberty, confinement and self-emancipation in multiple mediums.

Meanwhile, this work also experiments with the transformation of the audience perspectives and identities in performance with a ‘reading’. As the 'reading' progresses, the audience will gradually discover unknown mysteries hidden beneath the texts, and the boundary between the audience themselves and the performance will be broken.

The coded language is a key element of the work, which will be presented in a multi-sensory and experiential way, being 'read' by the audience. Body movement will act as a vital coded language, creating a mysterious communication that transcends the verbal and establishing a process of empathy for the audience.
