Tanja Siems' Book "Imparting City" published by Birkhäuser

The book „Imparting City“ is out now. Planned book launches in Toronto end of April, in London mid of May and in Lisbon beginning of June. Birkhauser publisher, Author: Tanja Siems, Languages: English and German. Foreword Barbara-Ann Campbell-Lange and contributions by Theo Lorenz, Mohamed Fezazi, Alexia Radounikli and Vera San Payo de Lemos. This practice orientated handbook aims at all urban actors wishing to develop and realise complex urban planning concepts. It sets out a series of techniques, methods and process models that range from analytical approaches and concept strategies to the creation of participatory projects.

AAIS alumna Yuyang (Summer) Cheng awarded by London New Wave Film Festival and official selection for Berlin Shorts award

AAIS alumna Yuyang Cheng's MFA in Spatial Performance and Design graduation project in AAIS, The Floating life Performance 山海浮生, has been announced as an award winner in the London New Wave Film Festival 2022 and officially selected by the Berlin Shorts award 2022. The Floating Life Performance is a multi-sensory spatial performance designed and directed by Cheng. The project combines music, interactive media, performance and installation with fabric and structure to create an immersive experience. The performance explores body landscape and space poetics in nature and city under the oriental context. The Floating Life Performance is also part of AAIS’s March event, ECHO 1.0 and will appear in the Edinburgh Fringe festival 2022. To view the trailer, click here. AA student Elyssa Sykes-Smith wins 'Next Big Thing' prize

Elyssa Sykes-Smith, who is currently studying in the AAIS programme at the AA has been awarded the [Next Big Thing] 2021 prize for sculpture. Elyssa's work aims to distil complex, psychological states into multi-sensory experiences. Playing on the divide between abstract and representational her work is designed to intrigue the viewer. Her sculpture responds to a site and brings to life a dynamic relationship between audience, artwork and environment. [Next Big Thing] selects ten artists annually across different media to highlight the work of young and aspiring artists in London. James Nicholls, Presenter of Next Big Thing said: “It’s been extraordinary to see the breadth and diversity of entries. The best of London’s young creativity is captured by the entries – they are testament to London’s diversity and how that inspires extraordinary creativity.”
